The Wedding of Ken & Daisy
Part 1: Before the wedding
5/26/18
SATURDAY, MAY 26
This was a special day spent celebrating the wedding of our fellow vegan friends, Ken and Daisy. Eric and I used to regularly mountain bike with Ken in the ‘before Todd’ era. Those were special times!
{{ Taking a short break to reflect on so many great memories! }}
Interestingly, Ken actually met Daisy right before we found out that I was pregnant with Todd…which means we’ll always be able to remember how long they’ve been together! Right when I met Daisy (at a vegan dessert party…Mmm), it felt like I’d known her for years. I could also plainly see that Ken was in love!
Their wedding day started early for us because we had to drive to Edmonds, WA. We had to wake up this precious face…
In Edmonds (and a little bit ahead of schedule), we hung out near the ferry dock.
At 10 a.m, we met the bride/groom and others from the wedding group, and the ferry was scheduled to leave at 10:30. Todd enjoyed chasing Daisy and holding her hand in the covered walkway. After boarding, he immediately wanted to go inside…
In Kingston, WA, we found a grassy area with a stage and some art/craft booths. Todd played with hula hoops, while Eric located some coffee…
For the return ferry trip, Todd spent a little time on the deck before going inside the vessel…
Here’s the picture that Eric took of Todd in the ^^ above video…
Back at the Best Western Plus Edmonds Harbor Inn, Todd and I checked out the pool. Both the water and the air temperatures were a little cooler than we’re accustomed to (at home), but it wasn’t too bad…
After swimming and before the wedding itself, we tried to facilitate a nap for Todd. He seemed tired…but wasn’t able to fall asleep.
To be continued…
SNOWBIRD TRIP 2018
Part 2: Sunday, April 1
[Part 1 of this trip can be found here: “Snowbird Trip 2018 (Part 1)“]
SUNDAY, APRIL 1
We woke up to blue skies. It was Easter, so I wanted to give Todd his first experience finding and opening plastic eggs. Todd was recently introduced to the PJ Masks television series, so he was excited to get the toy Owlette, Catboy, Gekko, Romeo, and Night Ninja figures. The monkey stuffed animal was a baby shower gift from his aunt Karin, and the basket was made by his great aunt Ginny. He was a fan of the jelly beans but not the Oreos (Mmm…good for me!) 🙂
Next up…skiing! We geared up to ride and ski the Chickadee lift at Snowbird (free for guests of the Cliff). Todd quickly got used to skiing off reins. Remember– at our home mountain of Mission Ridge he skied off reins only at the rope tow area.
We started a routine of taking a snack break at the Snowbird Center.
Apres-Ski = pool time! We spent a lot of time in the pool on this trip. We brought Todd’s diving sticks and diving rings, and each visit to the pool meant meeting new kids and sharing toys in the water. Todd did huge jumps into the pool, over and over. He pretended to be Hulk on the deck (i.e., bashing over yellow cones). He did his ‘Nestea Plunge’ move (like he started doing at the end of last summer). It was so much fun!
