SUNDAY, JUNE 17
Happy Father’s Day! Todd’s first tent camping experience was a success! He slept longer than he normally does at home…
In the morning, Todd visited the dogs in the neighboring camp and did some swinging in their rope swing. Next, we rode our scooters to the playground and the beach.
We bought some snacks and dinosaur toys at the little store just before Todd (appearing tired) said, “I’m just ready to go.” In the afternoon, my parents came over to our place to visit. After swimming in the pool, Todd’s favorite thing to do was play fight with Grandpa. Then, he promptly fell asleep (before he had a chance to eat any dinner), so we carried him straight to bed.
MONDAY, JUNE 18
We went to Slidewaters (Chelan, WA) for the first time this summer. (This year we have season’s passes…yay!) Naturally, we were all excited.
Highlights were: Todd tried the #4 (“Whitewater) intermediate slide by himself for the first time. (He just has to be caught at the bottom.) He loves going on the first 2 intermediate slides completely by himself.
After sliding, we stopped in Chelan for coffee and to do a ‘drive -through’ of the city campground my family used to stay at. Next, we took my parents to Tunnel Hill Winery. We found some rubber ducks by the waterfall to play with. Todd found sprinklers to run through on the way back to the car.
As if the day wasn’t busy enough, we returned to my parents’ camp site on the way home from the waterslides. We rode scooters to the playground and the beach. Todd stripped naked at water’s edge to play, while Grandma fixed dinner. While we ate, Todd faded fast! He said, “I’m getting tired.”
TUESDAY, JUNE 19
This was the last full day that my parents were in town. They did their own thing in the morning, while Eric took Todd to the ‘new park’ (Eastmont). In the afternoon/evening, they came over for dinner. Todd had one last chance to fight with Grandpa for this visit…
THE END!

Crescent Bar, WA
June 2, 2018
On this day, there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Crescent Bar, celebrating the completion of several recreational improvement projects. We heard about it from our local newspaper, and we expected more of a crowd than we found.
As a family, we were focused on the child-centered events, so we didn’t watch the actual ribbon-cutting. Eric did attend a short lecture by one of his favorite geologists, Nick Zentner. The area has a rich geological history. Check out the website: HUGEfloods.com .
Meanwhile, Todd and I hung out at the beach. Todd enjoyed some wading and found another child willing to share his water shooter (i.e., squirt gun).
Next, we located the “Jolly Trolley,” which reminded us of the trolley in the show, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. The driver took us on a short loop. The ride was free on this day!
Finally, we headed for the pontoon boat. Todd tripped on the dock and bloodied his knee a little. Aboard the vessel, he wasn’t thrilled about having to wear a life jacket (hence, no smile in the first picture). Nonetheless, the (free) ride was a real treat!! The boat captain took us on a complete loop around Crescent Bar island.
The boat cruised right where we played last year with my sister and Todd’s cousins. See post, “Todd the Two Year Old (Month 11) (Part 1)” for the pictures from Crescent Bar in July 2017.
At about 3:30 p.m., we headed for home, but first made one more stop: Wine tasting at White Heron Cellars. We love this special place in the world! See post, “Evening at White Heron Cellars (Quincy, WA)” (from August 2017).
