WHITE HERON CELLARS
AUGUST 19, 2017

White Heron Cellars (in Quincy, WA), is definitely one of our favorite places to spend a relaxing summer evening. Imagine: a cozy grassy amphitheater (with not too many people), warm outside temperatures, sunset views, wine for sipping, and some kind of music ($10 per person- you pay when you park). You can taste wine while chatting with Cameron, the winemaker, and wander around the amphitheater. At some point during the evening, the train will slowly climb the hill, wrapping itself around the winery. I recommend bringing a couple chairs or a blanket, and a (vegan) picnic dinner.

I first discovered the wine of White Heron Cellars when Eric and I tasted the 1998 Chantepierre. That blew our minds! We found our way to the winery itself for wine tasting “pre-Todd,” but the real fun began when we started going to White Heron’s events. We attended music events during Todd’s 23rd month, 24th month, and during his year 2, month 2. Check out the White Heron website for the event schedule, and maybe we’ll see you there in the future!

So let’s get on with the party! (Todd “let” us style his hair for the occasion)…

Why play with dirt with your hands when you can lie down in it?

Todd and I walked with Phyllis to get her dog out of the house (she knows us from Todd’s prior trips to the winery). On the path up the hill, Todd got to see the chickens’ house, the big rooster, and he watched them eat scratch. Along with Altesse, the dog, we all walked down the road back to the amphitheater. Todd had fun feeding Altesse some dog cookies.

Did you know? Altesse is a white wine grape variety.
