YEAR 3, MONTH 11

This is PART ONE of this month’s post because we did so many different activities!
VISITING MY FAMILY – BEND, OR
- we drove down to see my sister & parents (Thur 6/22 – Mon 6/26)
- on the way there, Todd had a dry pull up because we made multiple pee stops
- at a rest area, Todd spotted a kid in a baseball uniform & the kid was nice enough give Todd a ball he’d had for years
- Dining out: Bend Pizza Kitchen (6/22); Pacific Pizza (6/24); Bonta (6/25); Super Burrito (6/25)
- Activities: Shevlin Park ~2 mile walk (6/23); Juniper pool swimming (6/23); Elk Lake (6/24); Swim meet (6/25)
- Eric & I went to Ashley’s dance recital while Karin & Eli stayed home with Todd (6/23)
- he stood on a step stool to pee directly into the toilet during our visit (NO more Baby Bjorn potty needed!!)
- he napped in travel bed 2 days

COUSINS
- he got to meet his new puppy cousin, Lucy
- he does somersaults after he runs & jumps into the pillow pile in the play room

- this kiddie pool area was shallow enough for Todd to touch the bottom
ELK LAKE – DESCHUTES NATIONAL FOREST
- he loved digging in the sand & throwing rocks while my family went out on SUPs

HEADED BACK HOME
- on the way home, we had lunch in Madras with mom & dad as they started a long road trip & we stopped at a great park in Moro, OR (6/26)
VISIT FROM MY FAMILY
- my sister & her kids (Todd’s cousins) came to visit us (7/16 – 7/21)
- Dining out: Lemolo (7/17); Saddle Rock Pub & Brewery (7/18); El Porton (7/19)
- Activities: Ice cream social (7/16), Pioneer Park (7/17), Crescent bar (7/18), Slidewaters (7/19) & pool swims (7/17, 7/20)
PIONEER PARK
CRESCENT BAR
- this was our 1st visit here, but it won’t be our last! (7/18)
- the recreation area is still under construction, which was great for Todd because he got to sit on some heavy equipment!
- the beach is sandy & shallow
- several times the loud military jets flew by
SADDLE ROCK PUB & BREWERY
SLIDEWATERS
- we went to Slidewaters (7/19)
- Todd went down the #1 little slide by himself over & over; he went down #2 little slide, too
- he was brave enough to try #4 little slide by himself but got flipped over before I caught him at the bottom, so he didn’t repeat that one
- he went on the big slides with Eric for the 1st time & loved it
- he loved the frog slide in the kiddie splash area
- he liked the lazy river & swam with the current; he liked to watch the big bucket dump out
- on the way home, we stopped by Tunnel Hill winery
EL PORTON
YEAR 3, MONTH 10
MAY 21, 2017 – JUN 20, 2017
TODD SAID…
- “got frog in throat”
- “happy birthday” (Who? We don’t know)
- “I go go go there” (while looking at pictures of himself at the Everett Children’s Museum)
- “a long, long time ago”
- “nice butt” (he said it to both of us separately)
- “Ee new” (Eli) & “as sigh” (Ashley)
ASKING QUESTIONS
- he exaggerates the up-inflection in his voice at the end of questions
- he said:
- “what happened there?” (he asks about pictures in books)
- “are doing washing?”
- “are doing running?” (to a mannequin at Alberg’s)
EXPRESSING FEELINGS
- he said:
- “I love this guy called Pillow Bear”
- “I love you” (he said it back to me)
- “a little nervous”
- “I’m frustrated”
- “I’m so mad”
- “I sleep, I wake up, I say hi Eli, Ashley, Karin, Jason, grandma, grandpa. I love them”
- “I do” (he draws out ‘do’ & does a cute up-inflection in his voice); he said that when I asked him if he wanted to hold my hand
INDOOR FUN
- playing lightsabers with Eric
- jumping off the speaker
- blowing bubbles on the deck
- dancing to the Batman movie intro
- watching favorite shows
- the occasional “art class” (i.e., painting)
THE JOY OF SPRINKLERS
- running through sprinklers & playing with a neighbor boy (Wyatt)

SHOPPING
- Todd loves to shop!
- “I sleep. I wake up. I go get police car. Dada good guy. I go get red car Wal-mart.” (talking about the car shopping carts)
- we waited for the “black car” (car shopping cart) to be available to ride around in at Fred Meyer
- Todd’s 1st mask…in what becomes a large collection! (5/23)
- he says:
- “that’s too much pay” (he points to things in the Target catalog)

- open gym
- Eric tried to break some sort of fall by stucking his foot out, but this ironically caused injury to Todd’s nose (5/22)

- riding the mini train (5/27, 6/3, 6/18)
- jumping in the dirt pile by the mini train tracks (6/16)

- exploring Ohme Gardens (5/24, 5/29)

HIKING – LAKE CLARA
- part of Lake Clara trail (with Eric, 6/6)
- he said, “careful, Todd” while hiking downhill
- Lake Clara (Todd hiked the full 2.68 mile round trip) (6/11)
- during hikes Todd likes throwing sticks & rocks and he runs and jumps down the trails

FIRST BIKE RACE
- Leavenworth Bike ‘N Juice bike race (6/10)
- he did a 2-lap race without help (there was an uphill section!)
- he got to check out fire trucks & gear
- one firefighter agreed to put his gear on for Todd
THE POOL IS OPEN!
- swim at condo pool (5/27, 5/29, 5/31, 6/2, 6/7, 6/18, 6/20)
- he pretty much picked up his water skills where he left off (last Fall)
- when he jumps from the deck he really sinks to the bottom! (I wait for him to surface to ‘catch’ him)
- ‘dolphin’ diving underwater, holding his breath & doing assisted back floats (6/20)
- he says:
- “I’m so excited pool!”
AVIATION DAY – PANGBORN
- Aviation Day at Pangborn (6/17)
- Todd liked sitting in the cars/trucks & planes
OTHER ACTIVITIES THIS MONTH
- road bike ride with Todd in the trailer (5/21)
- visiting Elisa’s friend, Dwight, at the Apple Capital swim meet (6/4)
- end of year party for Elisa’s work; Todd liked playing downstairs with Sadie & outside on the deck with Emily’s girls (6/6)
- playing at Washington Elementary & Washington Park
- outdoor BBQ where we live
MISC
- he does not like having his hair brushed; he says, “I don’t like it”
- he sits calmly when getting teeth brushed..yay! (Eric asks him if he wants it done ‘hard or soft,’ so he chooses soft!)
- we signed Todd up for 2 day/wk preschool (will start in September) & a 4-day dinosaur camp (in July)
FOOD & DINING OUT
- Pizza – Riverfront Rock Gym (5/21), Lemolo (6/4, 6/18), Saddle Rock Pub & Brewery (6/16)
- Dining out – El Porton (5/23, 6/1), Munchen Haus (6/10)
- he crunched on whole cumin seeds
- Food-related things he said:
- “I want apple juice with ice cubes in it”
DAY TIME NAPS
- he naps for up to 3 hours starting at ~2 PM
NIGHT TIME SLEEP
- bedtime gets later in summer (i.e., into the 10 PM hour)…so wake up time in the morning is later (into the 7 AM hour); his 9-hour night time sleep continues
- he loves being read to before bed & I lie down next to his crib as he falls asleep (as usual)
- he woke up in the night 10 times this month
- 4:30 AM (5/21)

POTTY TALK
- this month he started wearing underwear outside of the house (i.e., not a pull up!)
- he wears diaper only for naps & night time sleep!
- “want diaper off, it have full pee pee in it”
- he took off his own underwear to go pee (5/25)
