YEAR 3, MONTH 11

This is PART ONE of this month’s post because we did so many different activities!

VISITING MY FAMILY – BEND, OR

• we drove down to see my sister & parents (Thur 6/22 – Mon 6/26)
• on the way there, Todd had a dry pull up because we made multiple pee stops
• at a rest area, Todd spotted a kid in a baseball uniform & the kid was nice enough give Todd a ball he’d had for years
• Dining out: Bend Pizza Kitchen (6/22); Pacific Pizza (6/24); Bonta (6/25); Super Burrito (6/25)
• Activities: Shevlin Park ~2 mile walk (6/23); Juniper pool swimming (6/23); Elk Lake (6/24); Swim meet (6/25)
• Eric & I went to Ashley’s dance recital while Karin & Eli stayed home with Todd (6/23)
• he stood on a step stool to pee directly into the toilet during our visit (NO more Baby Bjorn potty needed!!)
• he napped in travel bed 2 days

BEND PIZZA KITCHEN

COUSINS

• he got to meet his new puppy cousin, Lucy
• he does somersaults after he runs & jumps into the pillow pile in the play room

JUNIPER SWIM & FITNESS CENTER

• this kiddie pool area was shallow enough for Todd to touch the bottom

ELK LAKE – DESCHUTES NATIONAL FOREST

• he loved digging in the sand & throwing rocks while my family went out on SUPs

HEADED BACK HOME

• on the way home, we had lunch in Madras with mom & dad as they started a long road trip & we stopped at a great park in Moro, OR (6/26)

VISIT FROM MY FAMILY

• my sister & her kids (Todd’s cousins) came to visit us (7/16 – 7/21)
• Dining out: Lemolo (7/17); Saddle Rock Pub & Brewery (7/18); El Porton (7/19)
• Activities: Ice cream social (7/16), Pioneer Park (7/17), Crescent bar (7/18), Slidewaters (7/19) & pool swims (7/17, 7/20)

PIONEER PARK

CRESCENT BAR

• this was our 1st visit here, but it won’t be our last! (7/18)
• the recreation area is still under construction, which was great for Todd because he got to sit on some heavy equipment!
• the beach is sandy & shallow
• several times the loud military jets flew by

SADDLE ROCK PUB & BREWERY

SLIDEWATERS

• we went to Slidewaters (7/19)
• Todd went down the #1 little slide by himself over & over; he went down #2 little slide, too
• he was brave enough to try #4 little slide by himself but got flipped over before I caught him at the bottom, so he didn’t repeat that one
• he went on the big slides with Eric for the 1st time & loved it
• he loved the frog slide in the kiddie splash area
• he liked the lazy river & swam with the current; he liked to watch the big bucket dump out
• on the way home, we stopped by Tunnel Hill winery

EL PORTON

YEAR 3, MONTH 9
APR 21, 2017 – MAY 20, 2017

THINGS TODD SAID…

• “Got frog in mouth” (when he coughed)
• “Stay here all night” (when he doesn’t want to leave a place)
• “Oh, come on” (when he was looking for soap in the tub)
• “Hang on rope, jump in water…grandpa” (while thinking about a video of my dad doing a zip line into the water in Kauai)
• “I go with you” (when I leave for work)
• “Excuse me” (sounds like “coo me”)
• “yes” (in addition to “ah yeah”)
• “I’m big boy”
• “probably” – e.g., “I probably go to Washington Park”
• “Ooh, shake”

QUESTIONS

• “What happened?” (when Eric was lying on the couch a different way than usual)
• “right?” (at the end of sentences, like “I not barf, right?” & “I go outside, right?”)
• “What doing?” (he exaggerates the up inflection)

EXPRESSING HIS FEELINGS

• “I love a lot of people” (he said after watching a Daniel Tiger episode about family); “I love grandpa & grandma”
• he said, “I’m mad.” Eric asked him why, then he said, “I’m mad…mama not here”
• he said, “I love this brown guy” (a picture in his Target catalog)
• “kid in pipe scare you” (the scene when Augustus Gloop goes through the tube on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory)
• “I’m so cozy” (wrapped in purple fuzzy blanket)

ANIMAL FRIEND

• he loves to visit the neighbor cat, “Seven”

INDOOR FUN

• playing with his new T-ball set
• playing “lightsabers” with Eric (using Vitamix blender plungers)
• he said:
  • “I lost this light saber, darn it”
  • “Please put goggles on and one glove” (to Eric, who puts them on to play lightsabers)
  • “I’m baseball player”
  • “Please grab me” (he said to Eric while playing)
  • “I’m going for it” (he said while crawling across the back/top of the couch)
  • “Do this some day” (he said about Danny McCallister doing some crazy-amazing things on his bike on a YouTube video)
  • “I’m crazy man ’round here”

OUTDOOR PLAY

• kicking the soccer ball & jumping off big rocks
• watching various bugs

PUDDLE JUMPING

• he loves puddle jumping!
• he said, “I’m in guk puddle” (a really oily spot in the parking lot we always tell him to avoid!)

VISIT FROM MY PARENTS

• my parents came to visit Thur 4/20 to Mon 4/24
• Dining out: dinner at El Porton (4/20); lunch at The Hunter’s Wife Health Bar (4/22); dinner at India House (4/22)
• things we did with them:
  • Horse Lake trail (4/21); (we also went there 4/30)
  • Apple Valley Gymnastics (4/22)
  • Apple Capital Loop Trail, Pybus market (4/22)
  • Riverfront Rock Gym (4/22)
  • Mission Ridge rope tow (4/23)

MISSION RIDGE – SKIING

• skiing MR (4/23, 4/29)
• he said:
  • “this guy made road for you” (when he watched a movie that we took of the groomer working at the rope tow area)

MISSION RIDGE – PUDDLE JUMPING

ICE SKATING

• 1st time on ice skates (5/12)
•  he said, “I go skate. See what happens.”
• he tried to get down on the ground to eat the ice…so that was the end of that activity

WALLA WALLA POINT PARK

• he says:
  • “I seek Walla Walla park!”
• he loves to swing while listening “new Luke” (Star Wars Imperial March, Audiodrome Remix)
• he climbs the rock
• he loves to throw rocks in the river

WENATCHEE RIVERFRONT RAILWAY

• riding the mini train (4/29, 5/6)

WASHINGTON ELEMENTARY

• riding his Globber scooter and new razor scooter
• playing on the playground equipment & in the grass

FOOD NOTES & DINING OUT

• Food-related things he said…
  • “I need goppa, I need fridge, I go get them” and he walks to fridge for goppa
  • “it be delicious” (about chocolate)

DAY TIME NAPS

• no change from prior months
• he naps up to 3 hours starting between 1 & 2 PM
• he gets all hyper, runs laps around the condo, and likes throwing his diaper when Eric tries to get him ready for naps (or bedtime)

NIGHT TIME SLEEP

• he woke up in the night 7x this month
  • woke up 2:30 AM (4/25)
  • woke up 3:30 AM (4/27)
  • woke up 2:00 AM “need hold mama hand” (4/28)
  • woke up 2:00 AM (5/3)
  • woke up 1:30 AM crying for “boo boo bear” but went right back to sleep (5/7)
  • woke up ~2 AM; at 5:30 AM he said, “something scary out there…Gruffalo” (5/8)
  • woke up ~2:30 AM & he took a long time to fall back asleep (5/9)
  • woke up 4:20 AM (5/18)
• in the morning after a night when he cried & woke up, he talked about “red guy” & “brown guy” & “crash bike”
• he said:
  • “come here” (when he first wakes up in the morning)
  • “it’s scary out there” [when he woke up; he pointed to the window & said it was “brown guy” & “red guy” (from Room on the Broom)
  • “I want mama phone in this bed” (right when he woke up in the morning)

POTTY TALK

• Eric asked him “what are you waiting for” (re: doing a pee on the potty) & he said, “grandma & grandpa”
• he likes to read his “poo poo book” when he sits on the toilet (poo-poo book= Target ’16 holiday catalog)
• he said, “I tooted”
• he’s learning how to use public bathrooms with Eric
