PACIFIC PIZZA & BREW (BEND, OR)
JUL 18 (2018)
During our July trip to visit my family in Bend, OR this summer, we dined at Pacific Pizza & Brew. This is a favorite place to eat pizza and sip on a cocktail (or beer).
I usually order an Oregon Mule to drink (still my favorite!), but this time I tried the Pacific Margarita. The grapefruit juice added a distinct bitter/tart flavor. It took me a while to realize what I was tasting that seemed different! This is a good margarita for those who don’t like sweet mixed drinks.
To go along with my pizza, I ordered a small kale salad (Ingredients: kale, cabbage, carrot, mint, green onions, peanuts, shaved Brussels sprouts and spicy peanut-sesame dressing). It was spicy, but good!
We ordered a veggie pizza to share, and substituted pineapple for the cheese. As usual, we gave all the crust to Todd (it’s the only part he’ll eat). He ate a record amount. He only left 2 small scraps out of 8 pieces!
Todd’s shirt shows evidence of a great meal…
THANKSGIVING TRIP 2017
NOV 22 – NOV 26
For Thanksgiving this year, we went to Bend, OR to visit my parents & my sister’s family. I had a short work day, so we left right after I got off work.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22
Eric wanted to stop for lunch at the Sea Galley in Union Gap, WA. This was like going back in time! Vegan options? We ate from the salad bar and opted for the French dressing (a decent on-the-road meal). We ordered french fries (primarily for Todd), but they clearly had a fishy taste due to frying in shared oil (no need to order those again). Todd liked the fried breadsticks that came with the salad bar.
We met family at the Juniper Swim and Fitness Center, where cousin Eli was finishing his swim practice. Cousin Ashley made Todd’s hair look cute! Then we all went out for dinner at Pacific Pizza & Brew.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 23
It was unusually warm for this time of year. We all got outside for a ‘hike’ at Shevlin Park. There was a rainbow. Eric’s umbrella actually did get some use. Todd enjoyed stopping along the way to throw rocks and pine cones in the river.
Todd loves running and jumping into the playroom…
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 24
Before Todd’s nap, we walked along the river by Old Mill. In the evening, we went to the pool at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 25
Unlike last year, Todd agreed to sit on Santa’s lap on his own volition and without tears. He was eager to tell Santa all about the Lego Master Falls set that he wanted. Just to make sure Santa knew what that was, he brought a catalog.
Todd was so gentle with Kaiser the cat. They became good buddies!
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 26
On our way home, we stopped at the El Porton in Union Gap, which is a favorite Mexican restaurant (they have multiple locations in eastern Washington).
